How It Works: The Science Behind Our Calculators
At BilalMD, our goal is to provide reliable, educational medical calculators and tools that help users understand common clinical formulas, reference ranges, and research-based estimates. Our content is designed for medical education and general information.
Our approach
We build our calculators using three core principles:
- Evidence-based references
Where possible, calculators are based on peer-reviewed literature, reputable clinical references, and recognized guideline thresholds. - Clear, reproducible methodology
Each tool applies a defined set of inputs to a documented formula or model so results are generated consistently. - Transparency and updates
We aim to keep tools aligned with current medical knowledge and improve clarity over time. Important assumptions and limitations are disclosed on each tool page.
How a calculator generates results
Most tools follow a simple workflow:
- You enter inputs (e.g., age, dates, lab values, measurements).
- The calculator applies the formula/model described on that tool page.
- The tool returns an estimate and (when appropriate) a brief explanation.
Methodology & sources (per tool)
Each calculator includes a “Methodology & Sources” (or “Sources & References”) section that lists:
- The main references used
- Any assumptions, ranges, or thresholds applied
- Key limitations of the estimate
